Established in 1864, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is an independent foundation whose principal objective is to safeguard life, property and the environment. Based near Oslo in Norway with around 5,500 employees across 300 offices in more than 100 countries, DNV offers risk management services plus classification, certification and consultancy to organisations involved in shipping and offshore oil and gas exploration and processing.
DNV links its own worldwide organisation using modern information technology based on standardised systems. As part of that strategy DNV took up an extensive project to implement a standardised administrative solution across the company’s 300 offices. First conceived in 1999 and known as the ‘Global Project’, it is expected to bring significant business benefits to DNV in terms of competitive advantage and additional profits.
AGRESSO is the core system into which all other key business applications within DNV will feed their data. Agresso was chosen as the partner to help DNV develop its standardised financial and administrative solution following a successful installation at DNV’s head office. The implementation included the AGRESSO financials, project and payroll modules and replaced a mainframe system.
